College Basketball CBB DFS Top Plays December 3rd

CBB DFS Top Guards

Colby Jones  – Xavier vs. West Virginia ($8.2K DK)

Entering this season, Jones was deservedly on the preseason All-BIG EAST First Team after being named the NIT Most Outstanding Player last season, averaging a team-high 14.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest as the Musketeers won the tournament. He smashed in the championship game scoring 21 points and has picked right up where he left off this season. Jones is averaging 13.8 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 5.3 APG with a 36.7 DK fantasy point average and gets a home matchup against West Virginia today.

Kendric Davis- Memphis vs. Mississippi ($8.9K DK)

Davis was recently named the American Conference Player of the Week as he averaged 19.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists against Nebraska and Stanford. He is now coming off his worst performance of the season statistically against Northern Alabama scoring 18 points and four assists in 20 minutes but still put up  26.5 DK fantasy points. He has pretty much bee a 4X player all season so why stop today?

Tyler Kolek- Boise State @ Texas A&M ($6.3K DK)

Kolek was the Big East’s leader in assists per game along with KenPom.com’s #25 assist rate at the national level last season.  At 5.9 helpers per game, he and Posh Alexander were the only two guys to clear 4.5 helpers a night, and both guys were well north of five. Marquette’s offense is just not the same without Kolek on the floor and he is right back at it as the league leader in assists again with an 8.3 average. Max Rice of Boise state is getting love across the industry at the same price range but I am leaning toward Kolek in the I-94 batt

Other Top Guards

Top point per $ Plays:

  • Marcus Shaver- Boise State ($8.6ZK DK) The Davis GPP pivot - 37 DKFP last 5 and 2 of last 3 over 40 DKFP
  • Chucky Hepburn- Wisconsin ($6.7K DK) Has been playing awesome and you play guards against MARQ- Kolek and Hepburn are my top two mid-range price plays at guard.
  • Max Rice- Boise State ($6.3K DK) Is seeing strong projections - will be on the court all game
  • Alex Lomax- Memphis ($6.1K DK) low usage (15%) but 24.1 DKFP
  • Souley Boum- Xavier ($7.4K DK) 15.8 PPG leads team
  • Caleb McConnell- Rutgers ($5.4K DK)

CBB DFS Value Guards

Alex Ducas G/F- St. Mary's @ Houston ($5.7K DK)

Ducas is coming off a 25-point game and has been over 20 DK fantasy points in every contest since the third game of the season. He has a nice ceiling for this low price and is second on the team in usage with a 22.7% rate. Ducas leads the team in scoring (14.5 PPG) and even though we usually fade against the Houston defense this price cannot be ignored on another slate that is lacking value.

Top point per $ plays

  • Caleb McConnell- Rutgers ($5.4K DK) Returned to starting lineup and smashed last game for 34 DKFP. Too cheap again.
  • Augustus Marciulionis- Saint Mary's ($3.4K DK) Starter at a bare minimum price - 21.3% usage
  • Connor Essegian- Wisconsin ($5.3K DK) 23.5% usage off bench
  • Derek Simpson- Rutgers ($5.0K DK) 20.7% usage off bench but playing 25 MPG
  • Trey Galloway- Indiana ($4.6K DK) Energy player with some upside

CBB DFS Top Forwards

DeAndre Williams- Memphis vs. Mississippi ($7.2K DK)

The $7K-$8K range is loaded today as Jack Nunge and Tyer Wahl and Zach Freemantle are all strong plays. I went with Williams, though, as he continues to be the leader of the Memphis squad. Besides the Seton Hall dud on the 24th and last week's game against Northern Alabama where he wasn't needed Williams has had one of the safer floors in the game. He is usually good for at least 30 DK fantasy points and can explode as he did against St. Louis with 21 points and 12 rebounds in only 29 minutes last month. Always a threat for a double-double, the 26-year-old Williams (yes- he is 26) is in a great spot against an Ole Miss squad that is ranked 164th in defense efficiency.

Jaemyn Brakefield- Mississippi @ Memphis ($6.4K DK)

Brakefield is turning into a very good basketball player for Ole Miss. With such a lack of value, we will need to find hidden gems in the mid-priced range and enter Brakefield who has scored in double figures in three of the four contests where he has played over 20 minutes. He will be battling DeAndre Williams and is a similar type of player as he has excelled in transition. If Brakefield can use his physicality and score in the paint we could see Kermit Davis try to utilize his big man's size advantage in the post as he has pulled down at least seven boards in four straight.

Tre Mitchell- West Virginia @ Xavier ($6.3K DK)

Mitchell was one of our top calls last Sunday and he came through against Portland with 16 points and a load of peripherals for a 27 DK fantasy point night. He played even better against Florida on Tuesday with 17 points, eight boards and a couple of assists for 31 DK fantasy points. This is the Tre Mitchell that we saw at UMass two years ago- a stretch-four that averaged 17.7 PPG and 18.8 PP in back-to-back seasons. When he transferred to Texas last year he was out of position at the center spot and it showed but now he is back to the stretch-four position that he is used and it is already paying dividends with his new team in Morgantown.

Other Top Forwards:

Top point per $ plays

  • Trayce Jackson-Davis- Indiana ($9.9K DK) Top overall play of the slate but will be awful hard to get up to that price with lack of value in Cash
  • Tyler Wahl- Wisconsin ($7.4K DK) 32.4% usage 14.4 PPG/7.1 RPG
  • Jack Nunge- XDavier ($7.5K DK) 24% usage and 31.3 DKFP- better matchup than Freemantle
  • Mitchell Saxen- St. Mary's ($6.5K DK) 24.5% usage and 32.8 DKFP
  • Oso Ighodaro- Marquette ($6.8K DK) Ighodaro or OMP will smash- but which one? 33 DKFP in 3 of last 5
  • Olivier-Maxence Prosper- Marquette ($6.7K DK) See above

CBB DFS Value Forwards

Mawot Mag/Aundre Hyatt- Rutgers vs. Indiana ($5.1K DK/$5.3K DK)

Mag is a power forward but looks like a winger. He just continues to improve and is averaging 8.3 points and six rebounds in 25,3 minutes. He doesn't need to score points to get there in DFS and now has three straight 21+ DK fantasy point games and four straight 19+ DKFP. Hyatt, an LSU transfer last year, has taken advantage of the departure of former star Ron Harper Jr. The winger is third on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game but has been a below-average shooter at just 38.9%  from the two and 29% from beyond the arc. If Hyatt makes his shots he could smash but is still a GPP-play only while Mag is a bit safer.

Other Value Forwards:

Top point per $ plays

  • Emmitt Mathews Jr- West Virginia ($5.7K DK) plays 30+ MPG and back-to-back 20+ DKFP games 21.4% usage
  • Kyle Bowen- St. Mary's ($4.7K DK) plays 30+ MPG with 20.7 DKFP
  • Naje Smith- Boise State ($5.2K DK)
  • Julius Marble- Texas A&M ($4.9K DK) 21.4% usage when on court
  • Miller Kopp- Indiana ($3.4K DK) Min priced starter but only 12.1 DKFP
