CBB DFS Top Guards
Wade Taylor IV - Texas A&M vs. Oregon State ($8.0K)
Taylor, now a sophomore, was a frenetic player last season. He would produce steals that led to points but also out-of-control drives and turnovers. A year more mature in college basketball standards Taylor has learned how to hone his energy and be more efficient on the court while turning himself into a star in the making. Taylor had 19 turnovers while averaging 13.6 minutes per game through seven games last season. A year later, the Aggies’ starting point guard has cut his turnovers to 13 while averaging 24.6 minutes per game. With a 28.4% usage, 28.6% shot, 31.7% assist rate and 8th best in the nation steal rate (6.0) Taylor is now the alpha of the team with the highest total on the slate (75.0 points). He may be pricy but with his overall numbers and 6.7 fouls drawn per 40, Taylor is a top play in all formats.
Tyrece Radford- Texas A&M vs. Oregon State ($6.6K DK)
This is a big game for Texas A&M, which began the season in the Top 25 but has fallen back into the pack. They could really use a win against a Pac-12 opponent for their resume and I will have some pieces of the Aggies in my main lineup. Love the price on Radford who like Taylor IV can draw fouls (6.8 per 40) and is automatic when he gets to the line (85.2%- 8th best in the country). He can rebound (8.6% offensive rebound rate) and has a ceiling as shown by his 42 DKFP performance against DePaul and 44 DKFP against Murray State. We may catch Radford low-owned here and he makes a perfect complementary piece to your lineup.
Caleb McConnell- Rutgers vs. Seton Hall ($6.7K)
McConnell is my guy. If he's on a slate chances are that he will be in my main or alt lineup. Of course, he was much juicier when he was $4.2K and $5.4K a week or so ago but he is still in play at $6.7K and he sure does owe us after that clunker at Ohio State last Tuesday. The best defender in the Big Ten (and maybe the country?) has had to develop the offensive side of his game with Geo Baker and Ron Harper Jr moving on from last year's team. Who can forget the huge game against Notre Dame in the NCAA tourney last year when he put up 23 points on 10 of 12 shooting? He is strong on the glass and has the length to grab rebounds from smaller guards which leads to second-chance buckets and we hopefully see a “get right” game tonight from the player who put up 34 DraftKings FP in two of his last three games. Jahmai Mashack- Tennessee @ Maryland ($4.4K)gg
Other Top Guards
Top point per $ Plays
- Dane Goodwin- Notre Dame ($7.2K) 5 of last 6 over 23 DKFP
- Sean Pedulla- Virginia Tech ($7.5K) PG playing at an All-ACC level and a “revenge game” against an in-state team that turned him down- GPP only due to being guarded by Avery Anderson- one of the best in the Big 12
- Tony Perkins- Iowa ($6.3K) 24% usage/25% shot- nice price here and a solid 20 DKFP floor
- Tyler Kolek- Marquette ($6.9K) 41.6% assist rate (7th in the nation)- another solid 20 DKFP floor with some mid-30 upside
CBB DFS Value Guards
Jahmai Mashack- Tennessee @ Maryland ($4.4K)
Mashack, Tennessee’s 6-foot-4, 201-pound sophomore wing, is at a swing point early in his second season with the Vols. He had a career-high 13 points against Alcorn State last week playing then a career-high 27 minutes and making a career-high five shots from the floor. Now he’s in the thick of Tennessee’s rotation early this season as he was inserted into the starting five in that Alcorn State game and then proceeded to play 28 minutes in the next game against EKU (25 DKFP). The former four-star can guard anyone on the court but now looks much more comfortable on the offensive end which has forced Rick Barnes to play him more and more.
NOTE: If Vescovi misses again- Maschack is pretty much a core play
Top point per $ plays
- Bryce Thompson- Oklahoma State ($5.5K) Scoring-reliant but if he gets hot- watch out
- Dexter Dennis - Texas A&M ($5.0K)
- Connor Essegian- Wisconsin ($5.2K) Cheap enough to be a cash play but surely not a must
- Ahron Ulis- Iowa ($4.9K) 22 DKFP in 2 of last 4
- Tyreke Key- Tennessee ($5.4K) Will draw fouls and is not afraid to hit the 3
- Jordan Davis- Wisconsin ($4.3K) No problem using Davis as a “last man in” to complete builds
CBB DFS Top Forwards
Justyn Mutts- Virginia Tech vs. Oklahoma State ($7.9K)
Like Caleb McConnell- Mutts owes us tonight. Before the Dayton fiasco last Wednesday when he only scored two points, Mutts has been amazing so far this season averaging 13.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists while shooting an impressive 62% from the field including 64.8% from inside the arc. He just dominates down low - scoring off posting up, attacking the rim, and making awesome passes out of the paint. He does get his biggest test of the year so far against Moussa Cisse of Oklahoma State who has been really good around the rim but this is the best we have ever seen Mutts in his collegiate career and could very nuke another slate like the 48 DraftKings FP he put up against North Carolina last Sunday. Oh- and he is at a season-low price point. Lock him in.
Olivier-Maxence Prosper- Marquette @ Notre Dame ($6.3K)
As we saw last season some of O-Max's contributions to MU do not show up in the box score, like being able to switch on defense or disrupt the rhythm of his opponent in front of their zone press. With his size and mobility at the 5 when Shaka Smart plays some “small ball” against Notre Dame we could see a big game here as he swallows up guards with that huge wingspan on switches. This will be my gut call of the day for a player that has put up 34+ DK fantasy points in three of his last four games. Lock in O-Max.
Other Top Forwards:
Top point per $ plays
- Tolu Smith- Mississippi State ($8.6K) When Mutts is sub $8K- Smith becomes a GPP pivot
- Filip Rebraca- Iowa ($7.8K) Coming off 49 DKFP game against Iowa State with Murray out
- Moussa Cisse- Oklahoma State ($7.2K) love the upside but afraid of fouls against Mutts
- Oso Ighodaro- Marquette ($7.0K) O-Max pivot due to price
- Henry Coleman III- Texas A&M ($6.7K) A very tilting DFS play but should get us mid-20 DKFP
- Cliff Omoruyi- Rutgers ($7.6K) Seems to melt against better competition GPP only
- Patrick McCaffery- Iowa ($6.2K) All Hawkeyes get a boost with Murray out again
CBB DFS Value Forwards
Connor McCaffery G/F - Iowa vs. Wisconsin ($5.5K)
This may be my gut-call slate because I have a feeling that McCaffery also goes off today. The sixth-year senior is coming off a season-high 14 points in the huge win over Iowa State. With Kris Murray out, McCaffery stepped into the starting five and took right over. He really has no choice today but to put up points with Murray out again and he has proven over this career that he is capable of solid games in the right situations- just look at his 32 DKFP and 29 DKFP in two of his last three games.
Other Value Forwards:
Top point per $ plays
- Kalib Boone- Oklahoma State ($5.8K) 16.2% OR
- Mawot Mag- Rutgers ($5t.8K) 8.1% OR and 17.7% DR rates with a 20 DKFP floor
- David Joplin- Marquette ($5.0K) when he is on the court- 24% usage/25.6% shot rate
- Solomon Washington- Texas A&M ($4.5K) has played 20 mins last 2 with 14-16 DKFP
- Tyreek Smith- Oklahoma State ($4.9K) Has a 15-20 DKFP floor- plays about 20 mins
