Top Guards

Hunter MaldonadoWYOCSU870036.83
The Wyoming-Colorado St matchup boasts the highest total and one of the tighter spreads on the DK slate - making it a great target for DFS. On the Wyoming side of things, Maldonado is the guy we want and he’ll likely be popular in cash at the top-end of a guard position without many studs to choose from. Maldonado is averaging 18.8 PPG and 37.1 DK over the past ten contests while stuffing the stat sheet in a high-usage role.
Blake WesleyNDDUKE790025.01730022.57
Wesley might be a bit more expensive than we’d like, but he’s still worth rostering on this short slate as one of the more trustworthy top-end guards in play. The freshman is averaging 16.6 PPG and 29 DK over the past ten games and should be plenty active offensively for Notre Dame in this home matchup to try to pull off the upset vs. Duke.
James AkinjoBAYWVU750028.25700025.71
Akinjo returned from injury over the weekend and logged 32 minutes in his regular lead point guard spot. Though he only put up 24 DK in the effort, it’s encouraging to see him step right back into a high-usage role in Baylor’s offense and rack up three steals on the defensive end - it’s just his shots weren’t falling. Ideally he bounces back with one of those 30+ DFS point performances tonight against the struggling WVU defense.
Taz ShermanWVUBAY660029.08620026.64
If you want to differentiate from some of the top guards tonight, Sherman will likely be a contrarian and less-popular option because he’s going against Baylor on the road. Still, Sherman’s usage and shot volume alone could make him a solid floor play at some affordable price tags. When he’s hitting shots, West Virginia’s offensive catalyst has shone 30 DK upside or better and at least he had 25 DK and 18 points scored vs. Baylor in the first meeting.

Other Top Guards:

  • Isaiah Stevens -- Colorado State ($8,200 DK Only)
  • Matthew Mayer -- Baylor ($6,700 DK / $5,700 FD)
  • Mike Miles Jr. -- TCU ($6,500 DK / $5,100 FD)
  • Adam Flagler -- Baylor ($6,300 DK / $6,300 FD)

Value Guards

Jeremy RoachDUKEND500019.29530017.98
If Trevor Keels is out for Duke, then Roach becomes an excellent value once again. He’s moved into the starting lineup the last three games with Keels out, and he’s put up 23, 26 and 21 DK in these starts. Both sites have kept him relatively cheap considering the chance at 4x or 5x return - so lock into cash if Keels is out again.
Malik CurryWVUBAY410015.39490014.45
Most West Virginia players outside of Taz Sherman are a bit boom-or-bust for DFS this season. Curry is one of them, but at least the path to good games is more clearly there than his teammates. The Old Dominion transfer actually leads West Virginia in usage and shot rate when on the court during conference play - which keeps his floor a touch higher. He had 19 points and 28 DK vs. Baylor earlier this season and would smash value with those numbers tonight.
Brendan WenzelWYOCSU390010.57
Wenzel has started the last five games for Wyoming and is averaging 17 DK and 33 minutes per game since joining the starters. The uptick in role and playing time keeps his DFS floor much safer at a cheap DK price point - especially in a higher-total matchup vs. Colorado St tonight.
Dale BonnerBAYWVU30007.2439006.77
This play purely hinges on whether or not LJ Cryer plays for Baylor. If he does, then ignore this write-up. But if Cyrer is out, then Bonner would step into the main backup guard role for the Bears like he’s been in recent games with either Cryer or James Akinjo sidelined. In these instances, he’s logged about 25 minutes with 15 DK or so in a reserve backcourt role in three of the last four games. It’s a decent bargain at an extremely cheap salary.

Other Value Guards:

  • Jordan Goldwire -- Oklahoma ($5,200 DK / $4,900 FD)
  • Chandler Jacobs -- Colorado State ($5,100 DK Only)
  • Sean McNeill -- West Virginia ($4,600 DK / $5,500 FD)
  • Cormac Ryan -- Notre Dame ($4,300 DK / $4,600 FD)
  • Myles Dread -- Penn State ($3,400 DK / $4,200 FD)

Keegan MurrayIOWAPSU950042.29830040.11
If Iowa is on the slate, then Murray has to be considered in all formats because of his proven DFS ceiling of 50 DK this season. Though tonight he’s more of a GPP play due to the pace-down matchup vs. Penn State and lower DFS outputs lately - he’s had less than 40 DK in four of the last five games. Though that’s good on the surface, his expensive DK price tag suggests he should be consistently producing stud performance. The FD salary is fine, but he’s too much on DK to play in cash.
David RoddyCSUWYO920037
Going back to the highest total on the DK slate, Roddy is the guy to target from Colorado St as one of the better stud cash plays available tonight. The Rams’ power forward is averaging 16.4 PPG, 7.9 RPG and 35 DK over the last ten games and should have an advantage tonight against Wyoming’s poor interior defense. Roddy may go overlooked compared to Murray and Banchero on the high end, but he’s a safe cash play.
Paolo BancheroDUKEND900035.84850033.38
Not much more can be said about Banchero at this point. The eventual top-5 NBA pick (and maybe No. 1 overall) has come through for us in DFS for most of this season - averaging 18.2 PPG, 9.4 RPG and 38.8 DK over the past ten outings. Expect more of the same tonight against Notre Dame’s soft interior defense that’ll likely have trouble containing Banchero in the paint. It’s hard to fade him in cash on this short slate.
Mark WilliamsDUKEND750027.74720026.54
If you want to fade Banchero in cash or GPP for some reason, Williams is the contrarian pivot away by still getting good Duke exposure. The sophomore center can easily put up a double-double with multiple blocks and 30-35 DK or more in any given game. The matchup tonight vs. Notre Dame’s smaller, weaker frontcourt will certainly help in that regard.

Other Top Forwards:

  • Graham Ike -- Wyoming ($8,500 DK Only)
  • Wendell Moore Jr. -- Duke ($7,500 DK / $7,500 FD)

Jeremy SochanBAYWVU530022.04610020.52
Admittedly, a ton of the Baylor guys are GPP plays on this slate and most games for now. It’s tough to predict game-to-game which of them will have the better performances. You can roll with Mayer, Flagler, Brown or others at decent price points, but don’t overlook Sochan as an upside play tonight. The freshman big impressed vs. Alabama last game with 17 points and 31 DK and he’s now put up 30+ DK in four of his last seven games. It seems he’s now fully healthy after a recent ankle injury and could emerge as a go-to option for Baylor down the stretch.
Greg LeePSUIOWA490016.81440015.55
Lee has been a solid value ever since he joined the Penn St starting lineup and now he gets a pace-boost vs. Iowa. He had a decent 17 DK vs. Iowa in the first matchup but can easily get back to his 20 DFS points or so if he stays out of foul trouble. Lee is a decent bargain on DK, but his FD price tag is more attractive.
AJ GriffinDUKEND470016.82520015.64
Not sure why Griffin is still this cheap on both sites considering his proven ceiling. The standout freshman just went off for 22 points and 33 DK last game and is now getting a lot more playing time and offensive usage in the Duke attack with Trevor Keels out. Even if Keels plays, Griffin is still one of the top shot-makers and playmakers for this team at his best.
Jacob GrovesOUTCU31008.3240007.69
Groves has started the last two games for the Sooners - replacing Elijah Harkless in the starting lineup - and he’s put up 19 and 13 DK with 25+ minutes played in these starts. It’s a notable increase in playing time from his previous reserve role and the uptick minutes gives him a slightly higher cash floor of ancillary stats. If Groves starts again tonight, he’ll be a popular value - especially at near min price on DK.
