TOP GUARDS
Johnny Davis G/F (Wisconsin) Opp MINN ($9.8K DK)
It’s very rare that Wisconsin has a player drafted into the NBA- let alone a lottery pick. Sophomore sensation Davis is special and should have no problem with the Minnesota defense today (100.4 adjusted defense efficiency). In DFS when you have the double 30 (Usage/Shot) you are considered elite, and Davis is carrying a 32.4% usage and 33.4% shot rate to go along with a 19.6 scoring (35 DKFP) and 7.6 rebound per game average.
Tristen Newton G/F (East Carolina) Opp CINCY ($8.0K DK)
Newton is averaging 17.7 points on the season to go along with 4.8 assists per game. He is the team usage (27.2%) and shot (25.5%) leader and is ranked 46th in the nation with a 32.3 assist rate. This is a pace up game for the ECU star and he has incentive to do much better than the earlier matchup this season when he scored only 11 points while turning the ball over a game high four times.
Other Top Guards:
Payton Willis (MINN) $8.2K Cash/GPP
Jeremiah Davenport (CINCY) $7.1K GPP
Al Durham (PROV) $6.1K Cash/GPP
TOP VALUE GUARDS
Jared Bynum (Providence) Opp MARQ ($5.0K DK)
The redshirt sophomore point guard has already proved last season that he can run the Friars and create offense but now has also become more of a competent shooter and scorer. He leads the team in usage (24.6%) along with an elite 35.9% assist rate but is also putting up 13 points a game while playing 30 minutes. More importantly Bynum is one of the safest Friars to play in cash games as he has only gone below 22 DKFP one time in two months.
Meechie Johnson (Ohio State) Opp @PUR ($3.5K DK)
If Jamari Wheeler remains out with a foot injury, Johnson (who just returned from his own absence) should get close to 30 minutes again. If his first game since January 9th Johnson played 30 minutes but shot only 1-for-7 from the field while grabbing five rebounds with three assists (16 DKFP). $3.5K is a steal for any player of Johnson’s talent and it won’t take much to get to 5X value.
Isaiah Thompson (Minnesota) Opp OSU ($3.3K DK)
If Thompson’s shot falls, he will see more playing time and his confidence seems to be back. After struggling with a 7-for-29 shot streak over his previous six games Thompson scored a career-high 18 points (6-of-8 FGs, 4-of-6 3’s) in Thursdays big win over Iowa. He played 29 minutes in the Iowa game and if Thompson remains hot today he should smash value again.
TOP FORWARDS
EJ Liddell (Ohio State) Opp @PUR ($9.6K DK)
Liddell became the 60th Buckeye to hit the 1,000-point milestone on Thursday night as arguably the Big Ten’s best player had another monster game. He ended the night with 23 points, but it wasn’t just the scoring that helped boost Ohio State- it was the career high 15 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive glass. Lidell is a member of the 30/30 Club with a 32.4% usage and 30.1% shot rate to go along with a 29.3% combined rebounding. Anytime you face Purdue and the combo of Zach Edey and Trevion Williams you are in a for a battle, but Liddell is an experienced master in the Big Ten trenches and the top overall play of the slate.
Noah Horchler (Providence) Opp MARQ ($7.2K DK)
Horchler is Providence’s top rebounder at 8.4 per game with a 22.1 defensive rebounding rate (29.1% combined). Even on a squad that is used to Nate Watson being the center of attention Horchler has taken over as the man as he plays nearly every minute (compared to Watson’s 24 per game) and has only dropped below 22 DFKFP once in the last six weeks. This is more of a safe cash play as Horchler has a mid-30’s ceiling but when average close to 10 boards a game you are in play against a pace up team like Marquette.
John Hugley (Pittsburgh) Opp @BC ($7.7K DK)
The last time BC and Pitt faced off it was a real good game, but they could not stop Hugley down the stretch as he went off for a massive 32 points in a two-point Pitt win. Hugley is the teams leading scorer (15.2 ppg/31.7% usage/28/7% shot) and a real big presence in the pain- right where BC struggles defensively. James Karnik and Quinten Post could not stop fouling and sent Hugley to the free throw line 20 times (made 15). Hugley should bully the Eagles again this afternoon with his 12% offensive and 22.1% defensive rebounding rates leading to another monster game making him a top play in all formats.
Other Top Forwards:
Justin Lewis (MARQ) $9K GPP
Trevion Williams (PUR) $7.9K GPP
Zach Edey (PUR) $8.2K GPP
Jamison Battle (MINN) $7.5K Cash/GPP
TOP FORWARD VALUES
Malaki Branham G/F (Ohio State) Opp @PUR ($5.5K DK)
Branham has been a revelation this year for the Buckeyes. He led the way again on Thursday night against Northwestern by knocking down four straight shots to start the game and scored 9 of the first 11 Buckeye points. He ended up with 11 points on the night with six rebounds and three assists (26 DKFP) and has now played 30 minutes in every game but one blowout since December 11th.
Ed Croswell (Providence) Opp MARQ ($3.7K DK)
Big Ed may not play 30 minutes but when he’s on the court he puts in work (22% usage). He is averaging 22 DKFP over his last three games and has been earning more trust from Ed Cooley as he played 25 minutes against Xavier on Wednesday scoring 10 points with six rebounds (20 DKFP). A risky play but at only $3.7K you could do a lot worse today.
