TOP GUARDS

Kameron McGusty G/F (Miami-FL) Opp FSU (7.8K DK)

McGusty and the Hurricanes have won 10 of their last 11 games and the only team to defeat them in that span is this Florida State squad that they will be facing today. The Seminoles are a long, tall, and athletic team and will test McGusty, but he has been just too good. He has only been below 31 DKFP in one game since 12/18 and is the team’s usage (25.4%) and scoring leader (17.4) as well as putting up 25.3% of his shots.

Collin Gillespie (Villanova) Opp @GU ($7.8K DK)

Gillespie has been a textbook cash play for the entire season. His ceiling is not very high (40 DKFP) but it’s a near guarantee that he will get you 4X his salary as he he’s been shooting the ball with peripherals stacking up. He leads the team in scoring at 15.6 points with a 23.4% usage rate, 25.5% shot and 21.9 assist rate plus gets a positive pace differential against a Georgetown team that has allowed at least 70 points in every game since early December and holds a 232nd defensive ranking.

Bryce Aiken (Seton Hall) Opp @STJN ($6.9K DK)

Aiken has always been the “special player when he’s healthy”. After serving as the spark plug off the bench for the start of the season, he has caught fire when promoted to the starting lineup and has scored at least 22 points in every game this month (except for 9 at Butler) and has been  30+ DKFP over his last three games. This is the marquee DFS game of the slate as the Pirates face off with St. John’s and the fourth-highest adjusted team tempo in the nation.

Other Top Guards to Consider:

Julian Champagnie G/F  (STJN) $9.2K  Cash/GPP

Jared Rhoden G/F (SHU) $7.3K  Cash/GPP

Joe Girard III (SYR) $6.5K GPP

Taz Sherman (WVU) $6.3K  GPP

Jordan Wright G/F (VAND) $6.1K  Cash/GPP

TOP GUARD VALUES

Geo Baker (Rutgers) Opp @MINN ($5.3K DK)

This is not the greatest game environment, but Baker is still too cheap for his talent level. When healthy he’s been effective scoring 10.9 points and 4.2 assists per contest. With an assist rate of 25.9 and 25+ DKFP over the last two games you could do a lot worse than Geo Baker at $5.8K.

Jeremy Roach (Duke) Opp SYR ($4.1K DK)

Freshman Trevor Keels will not be playing against Syracuse today so look for sophomore point guard Roach to return to the starting lineup. He is coming off one of his better games of the season being strong with the ball with six assists and three rebounds (19 DKFP) and now gets a Syracuse team that plays horrible defense in an up-tempo high scoring game at home.

Kowacie Reeves (Florida) Opp VAND ($3.0K DK)

The Gators picked up a much-needed win against Mississippi State without Colin Castleton. The big guy who is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder will be out again so Florida will be relying on players like Reeves and Jason Jitoboh. Reeves has shown steady growth and has capitalized since Mike White moved him into the starting lineup three games ago where he has now scored 14 points in consecutive games. It won’t take much to make value at $3.0K so look for a decent 5-7X for Reeves today.

Other Value Guards to Consider:

Allen Flanigan (AUB) $4.4K GPP

Tyree Appleby (UF) $4.3K Cash/GPP

LJ Cryer (BAYLOR) $5.1K Cash/GPP  * Great in GPP if Akinjo OUT*

Terrence Shannon Jr (TTU) $3.9K GPP

TOP FORWARDS

Julian Champagnie G/F (St. John’s) Opp SH ($9.2K DK)

St. John’s must beat Seton Hall in the Garden today. It’s a close to a must win as it gets in January since they are 0-5 in Quad-1 games and winless in Quad-2. Champagnie will be home and has been a beast. He is taking 20 shots a game and carrying a 29.25% usage over the last five to go along with 22.8 points and 7.6 rebounds. My main lineup will be starting with Champagnie.

Walker Kessler (Auburn) Opp UK ($8.2K DK)

There may be enough value to get both Kessler and Champagnie in your lineups today. Kessler and Auburn will be playing in a huge game at home against Kentucky, the best team that they’ve played all season. If he doesn’t run into foul trouble Kessler will crush the slate but that’s a big if. He fouled out in back-to-back games last week but then came back with a monster 58 DKFP against Ole Miss (10 rebounds/7 blocks) and 38 DKFP against Georgia. Kentucky is no pushover, but this could be a big day for Kessler.

Jared Rhoden G/F (Seton Hall) Opp @STJN ($7.3K DK)

We want pieces from this game as it’s the highest scoring contest of the slate (156.5) and Seton Hall comes in with the second highest implied score at 79.25. Both teams run a high tempo offense and Rhoden is still the Alpha of this offense taking 14/22/13/12 shots over the last four games. He is the team usage leader at 25.5% and takes 28.1% of the shot share. Rhoden is not known for his defense and there will be a lot of shots and points scored in this game.

Other Top Forwards:

Paolo Banchero (DUKE) $9.5K Cash/GPP

Wendell Moore (Duke)

Oscar Tshiebwe (UK) $9.6K Cash/GPP

Jabari Smith (AUB) $7.8K GPP

Jesse Edwards (SYR) $7.6K Cash/GPP

Timmy Allen (UT) $6.5K GPP

TOP FORWARD VALUES

Anthony Duruji (Florida) Opp VAND ($5.0K DK)

A huge second half performance against Mississippi State earlier in the week from Durujii was key in the Gators comeback win. He scored 18 of his 22 points in the final 20 minutes and had a season high five steals in that game. Colin Castleton will be out again opening more of an opportunity for Durujii who was playing a solid 23-25 minutes even before Castleton went out with 18-20 DKFP.

Quinten Post (Boston College) Opp VT ($4.5K DK)

Under the radar play here. Post averages 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game and is their best rim protector at a block per game. Post plays a big role on this team and will need to open the offense down low if BC is going to compete with Virginia Tech. Since transferring to BC from Mississippi State, Post has been getting a lot of runs and is coming off a 29-minute game against Louisville. He is a high usage player (26.3%) with the best shot rate on the team (25.1%) plus has a combined rebound rate of 30.8% and 5.9% block rate- very solid rates for a $4.5K player.
