10-Team Leagues

Jack Flaherty , STL SP (77% ownership), FAAB Bid - $16-18 - There haven’t been many pitchers better in baseball lately if we’re being honest. He’s thrown two shutouts in his last three outings and has struck out seven or more in six consecutive games. He’s won three straight games and has gone 4-2 over his last six. The fact that he pitches in the NL will always benefit him getting to face a pitcher three times.

Nick Pivetta , PHI SP (55% ownership), FAAB Bid - $15-16 - We’re getting the Pivetta we saw earlier in the year lately. He’s allowed two earned or less over his last three starts while striking out six or more in each game. Pivetta has been excellent all season long in the strikeout department racking up an 11 K/9, which is a very elite number. He should be owned in all formats going forward.

Kole Calhoun , LAA OF (64% ownership), FAAB Bid - $13 - Calhoun has been really good over the past month, hitting .320. He’s also belted eight homers and has driven in 24 runs over that span, which both rank in the top-10 in all of baseball. He’s also scored 12 runs over his last 12 games. His stock will rise even more when Mike Trout comes back from an injury and allows Calhoun to see more pitches and score more runs.

12-Team Leagues

Mychal Givens , BAL RP (18% ownership), FAAB Bid - $12 - The Orioles closer should be owned in all formats if only the O’s were a better team and actually won some games. They don’t, so it’s tough to hold a slot for Givens. He’s thrown three scoreless outings over his last four and has three saves over that timeframe as well. He’s been impressive as a closer and has a firm grip on the job for the remainder of the season.

Willy Adames , TBR 2B, SS (33% ownership), FAAB Bid - $9-10 - Adames is finally coming around at the dish. Over the past two weeks, Adames has hit .341 with seven runs scored, two home runs five RBI and four RBI. He hit .286 at Triple-A before his call u, so the bat is something that has translated well to the Big League’s. Being multi-position eligible is a huge bonus as well.

Trevor Cahill , OAK SP, RP (33% ownership), FAAB Bid - $8-9 - Just today we saw Cahill twirl seven shutout innings against the defending World Champion Astros. Cahill has three quality outings over his last four games, including three games with six strikeouts or more. After his shutout Saturday, his ERA has lowered to 3.12 and his WHIP is down to 1.04. Cahill is an elite option for 12-team options for the remainder season as an SP3.

15-Team Leagues

Wilmer Flores , NYM 1B, 2B, 3B (9% ownership), FAAB Bid - $7 - The multi-position eligibility is a nice touch, especially in deeper formats. Flores has been a consistent bat all year, notching 11 homers and 45 RBI up to this point in the year. Flores could catch fire and possibly approach 20 homers by years end, which would be a great addition for any 15-team league format.

Danny Jansen , TOR C (21% ownership), FAAB Bid - $5-6 - There is absolutely no reason Jansen shouldn’t be receiving starts going forward with the Blue Jays out of playoff contention. Jansen hit very well at Triple-A before his call up hitting 12 home runs with an .863 OPS. He’s had an RBI in three straight starts and is hitting .400 thus far this season. He has a lot of fantasy potential if and when he’s announced the everyday catcher.

Rafael Ortega , MIA OF (1% ownership), FAAB Bid - $1 - If you’re in an NL-only league looking for some steals, Ortega has some value. He’s swiped four bags over the last week and is actually hitting .313 on the year. That average probably won’t stay that high all year which is why he’s been primarily a minor leaguer his professional baseball career. He’s actually been leading off for the Marlins recently too, so the more at-bats the better for us.
