10-Team Leagues

Héctor Rondón , HOU RP (64% ownership), FAAB Bid - $14-16 - Maybe it’s because it was only Osuna’s first two games back, but Osuna pitched in the eighth and Rondon was the one who closed the door in the ninth in both. Rondon has closed the door for the ‘Stros in back-to-back games and now has 13 saves on the year. He now has 53 K’s over 41.2 innings and is just mowing people down. As long as he’s pitching this way, he should keep his job for the remainder of the year.

Ryan Zimmerman , WAS 1B (30% ownership), FAAB Bid - $12 - I told you a few waiver wire articles ago that Zimmerman should be a priority and he’s proving that to be correct. Just over his last 10 games, Zimmerman is slashing .343/.425/.657 with two homers, five doubles and nine runs batted in. Zimmerman looks like the player we saw all of last year right now and should be owned in all formats going forward.

Trevor Cahill , OAK SP, RP (35% ownership), FAAB Bid - $11-12 - Cahill has been really, really for Oakland since joining the team and has especially been good of late. He’s won three straight starts and has 16 K’s over his last two starts, which over that span ranks third in all of baseball. Cahill has a 25.3-percent K-rate and an elite 3.25 xFIP, backing up everything he’s done so far.  He also has an elite 54.8-percent ground ball rate, so he’s really everything we’re looking for in a fantasy pitcher.

12-Team Leagues

Marwin González , HOU 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF (51% ownership), FAAB Bid - $9 - Finally we’re getting a glimpse of the Gonzalez we grew accustomed to seeing last season. He’s belted four homers has scored seven runs and drove in six more just over his last seven games. Let’s add in the fact that he’s eligible at literally every position other than catcher and he has tremendous fantasy value, especially when he’s actually hitting.

Lance Lynn , NYY SP (44% ownership), FAAB Bid - $8 - How much you spend on Lynn is how much you trust him and what he’s done with the Yanks thus far. Lynn dealt a 7.1 gem against the White Sox against shutting them out while striking out nine. Lynn has now thrown 11.1 scoreless innings with the Yankees in the two appearances he’s made for the team. Now that he has a guaranteed rotation spot for the time being, he could be worth the add, especially if he’s going to look the way he does right now.

Aledmys Diaz , TOR SS (16% ownership), FAAB Bid - $7 - Diaz has been playing really well of late and is looking more and more like the Diaz we saw when he was first called up as a rookie. He homered in two straight games coming into action on Tuesday and was hitting .333 with an OPS of 1.199 OPS over his last two weeks, which has been a span of nine games. Diaz is up to 14 homers on the year and has a real chance at 25 by years end, which would give him a chance at being a top-15 fantasy shortstop.

15-Team Leagues

Wade Miley , MIL SP (16% ownership), FAAB Bid - $5-6 - The regression for Miley just hasn’t come yet like we all expected it would. Miley hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any start this year and has an impressive 2.10 ERA. He does only have 22 K’s over 34.1 innings, but we’re not looking for a frontline starter here. If you want to simply limit picking him up in NL-only leagues, I’m more than fine with that too.

Mike Minor , TEX SP, RP (15% ownership), FAAB Bid - $5 - You wouldn’t think it by looking at his numbers for the entire year, but he’s been a lot better over the past couple months. Since June 9th – a span of 10 starts – he’s notched a 3.26 ERA. He’s only allowed more than three earned runs once over that span as well. He also has notched a very respectable 20.4-percent K-rate over those 10 starts. Minor is worth owning right now, especially factoring in that you can slot him in to both your starter or reliever slot.

Daniel Palka , CWS OF (4% ownership), FAAB Bid - $4-5 - If you’re really lacking in the power department, especially in AL-only formats, look no further. Palka has hit five homers over the past two weeks and now has 17 in just 79 games this season. He has a very impressive  .264 ISO and .500 SLG on the year. If he continues to get a lot of at-bats, he has a legitimate chance at 30 home runs by the end of the year.
