Astros signed RHP Jake Odorizzi to a two-year contract with a player option for 2023.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com says that Odorizzi is guaranteed $20.25 million in the first two years of the deal but could max out at $30 million with "very attainable performance bonuses." It's not the length of deal the right-hander was looking for, but all told it seems like he made out pretty well here. The Astros, understandably, seemed to strengthen their pursuit of Odorizzi after they lost Framber Valdez (finger) for potentially the entire season. Odorizzi struggled from an injury and performance standpoint in 2020, but he was excellent in his last full season in 2019.

Luis Castillo threw live batting practice Monday for the first time this spring.

Castillo is behind schedule after having travel issues while coming back from his native Dominican Republic. The right-hander is tentatively slated to make his Cactus League debut on Friday and still has enough time to get ramped up for Opening Day.

Yohan Ramirez has rejoined Mariners camp after being away for seven days due to COVID-19 protocols.

It's not clear whether Ramirez had coronavirus or if this is a contact tracing situation. Either way, he is expected to throw a live batting practice session in the next day or two and could get in a game as soon as this weekend. Ramirez could be part of the Mariners' late-inning mix this season.

Elias Diaz went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles in a Cactus League game Monday versus the Reds.

Diaz is now 4-for-10 on the spring as he attempts to lock down the starting catcher job in Colorado. The 30-year-old flashed a bit of power during his time in Pittsburgh and could be intriguing in two-catcher formats.

Jesse Winker drew two walks, singled, and scored a run in the Reds' 6-4 Cactus League win over the Rockies on Monday.

Winker missed the first handful of Cactus League games due to minor hip tightness, but he's a full participant now and should be 100 percent come Opening Day. The 27-year-old registered a shiny .932 OPS with 12 home runs in 54 games last season for Cincinnati and should open as the primary left fielder in 2021.

Andres Gimenez hit a three-run inside-the-park homer as the Indians rolled to a 10-0 win over the Mariners on Monday in the Cactus League.

Gimenez drove a pitch to dead-center in the bottom of the fifth that was ultimately misplayed by Mariners outfield prospect Taylor Trammell, who thought he caught it against the wall and didn't throw the ball in with any urgency, allowing Gimenez -- and the two runners in front of him -- to race all the way around the bases. Gimenez now has two home runs and six RBI through five games played this spring.

Nick Madrigal (shoulder) played five innings at second base in his Cactus League debut Monday versus the Dodgers.

Madrigal also took two at-bats, grounding out back to the pitcher in the top of the third inning and hitting into a double play in the top of the sixth. The young infielder has been brought along slowly this spring after requiring a cleanup procedure on his left shoulder in October, but he is fully expected to be ready for Opening Day.
