M. Maldonado - C
Maldonado is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Maldonado is getting a routine breather after catching each of the Royals' past three games. Cam Gallagher will step in behind the plate as a battery mate for starting pitcher Heath Fillmyer.

C. Flexen - SP
The Mets formally recalled Flexen from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of his scheduled start Saturday against the Cardinals.
As expected, Flexen will move up to the big club as the replacement in the rotation for Jacob deGrom (elbow), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. DeGrom will undergo an MRI on Monday, which should provide more regarding the length of his stay on the IL. With a team off-day coming up April 25, the Mets would be able to get by without a replacement for deGrom until April 30 versus the Reds. With that in mind, there's a decent chance Flexen is sent down to the minors after Saturday's outing to afford the Mets more roster flexibility over the next week and a half.

T. White - DH
White started at designated hitter and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Friday's 7-2 win over the Rangers.
The Astros banged out 11 hits, seven for extra bases, but White was not part of the offensive firepower. He carried the Astros during a stretch last August when many regulars were sidelined but has made little impact in 2019. White entered Friday's game with seven hits in 29 at-bats, just one for extra bases, and has struck out on 33.3 percent of his plate appearances. White told Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle that he's being challenged to hit fastballs, and his timing is off. Timing is something that comes with repetition, but the 28-year-old is not getting consistent at-bats. Houston has a stretch of 26 games in 27 days coming, which presents an opportunity for more regular work and a chance for White to get his timing down.

G. Soto - SP
The Tigers reinstated Soto (suspension) from the restricted list Saturday and optioned him to High-A Lakeland.
Soto will now begin his 2019 campaign in earnest after finishing out the 20-game suspension he received in January for conduct detrimental to baseball. Though the 24-year-old lefty possesses a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster, he has yet to pitch above the High-A level and isn't a realistic candidate to contribute for the big club this season.

D. Peterson - LF
Peterson is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Peterson had started six of the Tigers' last eight games, including the first two contests of the series with Chicago as a replacement for the banged-up Christin Stewart (quadriceps). With Stewart's stay on the injured list set to last through at least next weekend, Peterson should have some runway as the Tigers' main option in left field, but he's done nothing offensively yet to suggest he's worth much attention outside of AL-only leagues.

J. Jones - CF
Jones will make his eighth straight start in center field in Saturday's game against the White Sox, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. He's slated to hit ninth.
The Tigers haven't eased Jones back into action since he was activated from the 10-day injured list April 11, as he's been included in the lineup in every game. As the best defensive center fielder on the roster, Jones' role should be fairly secure until the Tigers decide to promote prospect Daz Cameron from Triple-A Toledo, but don't expect much useful fantasy production from the 26-year-old. He's batting .174 through his first 26 plate appearances of the season with one steal and no extra-base hits.

T. Anderson - SS
Anderson has been reinstated from his one-game suspension and will start at shortstop and bat second Saturday against the Tigers.
Rather than appealing, Anderson chose to immediately serve the suspension he was handed for the language he directed at Royals pitcher Brad Keller when the right-hander intentionally threw at him in Wednesday's game against Kansas City. With the brief ban behind him, Anderson will settle back into a full-time role in the middle infield and will look to continue his hot start to the season. The 25-year-old is slashing .422/.439/.656 with four home runs and a 7-for-7 success rate on stolen-base attempts through 16 games.

J. Candelario - 3B
Candelario will man third base and hit in the leadoff spot Saturday against the White Sox, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Candelario gets a look in the leadoff role for the third time this season while normal table setter Josh Harrison gets a rest day. It's been a rough season thus far for Candelario, but the 25-year-old seems to be hitting his stride of late with a 7-for-22 mark at the dish and a 2:3 BB:K over his past six starts.
