League of Legends European Championship

Winner’s Bracket - Round 1, Match 1

March 25th, 2022

MATCH:

(-285) Rogue v Misfits (+205)

The Spring playoffs for the LEC are finally here! The LEC breaks their playoffs into a Winner’s Bracket and a Loser’s Bracket. The first two series (Rogue versus Misfits Gaming and Fnatic versus G2) will drop the two losers into the gauntlet style Loser’s Bracket. The two winners end up one win away from the Spring Finals and a much easier path to the Mid Season Invitational. Rogue, as the number-one overall seed, was able to choose their opponent and instantly locked in Misfits. This could be one of the more one-sided matchups in the playoffs and making the most cost-effective picks here will be key. So let’s dive in and break down these matchups!

Series #1: Rogue v Misfits

Cann’s Pick: Rogue (3-1)

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain (Rogue)

Favorite: Comp ($16,500) There is a bit of a coin-flip aspect to this pick. I think the output between Comp and Larssen tends to be pretty similar, (Comp - 31.3 FPPG and Larssen - 30.9 FPPG) so I am opting to lean into the heavy ADC bias that is the global view of the game right now. Making sure your ADC is on a strong pick and set up for team fights is a shared approach to the game right now and one that we see the vast majority of teams looking to implement. Look for RGE to put Comp on a simple, yet consistent, pick and allow him to safely make his way through the game. He will add more value once he is out of the laning phase but do not be shocked if he and Trymbi try to make some early game plays in the isolated 2 on 2.

Value Pick: Larssen ($15,000)

Captain (Misfits)

Favorite: Vetheo ($15,600) There really isn’t any other reasonable option for the captain role from Misfits. Vetheo is the soul of this team and the team only really wins when he has a high-performance game. He nearly joined an elite group of LEC players who crack 100 kills in a split (he had 98 kills in 18 games played) and he had a team kill share of 34% from the Spring Split. His 74% kill participation rate is nothing to undervalue, as it shows everything plays through him, despite Misfitsonly winning 67% of their games and ending in third for Spring. The only way Misfits pick up wins on Friday is if Vetheo goes out and puts on a world-class performance.

Value Pick: NONE

Flex (Rogue)

Favorite: Larssen ($10,000) Larssen is only second to Vetheo in terms of mid-lane productivity. He picked 77 kills and 125 assists in their 18 games in Spring. Larssen is the pinnacle of European mid lane play. His control mid play is second to none and his champion pool is an absolute ocean. In this series, I doubt either Vetheo or Larssen will pick up any kills in an isolated 1v1. This means they will need to rotate out of lane early and make their impact felt in the side lanes which with the jungle disparity between Malrang and Shlatan, Larssen should benefit.

Value Pick: Malrang ($9,200)

Flex:

Favorite: HiRit ($7,800) Cut your costs for Misifts to pick up more expensive Rogue carries. HiRit is my choice in this slot because Rogue’s top laner, Odoamne, is not their targeted carry player. We see him constantly playing the weak side for the team and his main goal is to lose slowly, absorb pressure, and bring utility to team fights. If MSF’s jungler, Shlatan, can focus pressure into the top lane, HiRit could pick up serviceable points on Friday.

Value Pick: Shaltan (MSF: $8,800)
