2026 Fantasy Baseball Player Profile

Sung-Mun Song’s 2025 season was a historic coronation that cemented his status as the premier third baseman in South Korea. Playing for the Kiwoom Heroes, the 29-year-old followed up a breakout 2024 with an even more dominant campaign, appearing in all 144 games and slashing .315/.387/.530. He joined the prestigious 20/20 club for the first time, finishing with 26 home runs and 25 stolen bases, while ranking among the KBO leaders in hits (181) and runs (103). His combination of elite plate discipline (10.6% walk rate) and sudden power surge earned him his first career KBO Golden Glove and led to his official posting for MLB teams in November.

The 2026 season marks the beginning of Song’s Major League journey after he signed a four-year, $15 million contract with the San Diego Padres on December 22, 2025. The deal, which includes a $1 million signing bonus and a mutual option for 2030, was a high-priority move for GM A.J. Preller to address the team’s lack of left-handed depth.

For fantasy managers, Song is one of the most intriguing "late-round wildcards" of the 2026 draft season, with an ADP around 385.
