2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Yoshida batted .289 with 15 home runs and eight stolen bases in his rookie season in the bigs. He displayed good plate discipline (14 K%) and excellent contact skills however his .338 OBP was a bit underwhelming based on preseason expectations.                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

2024 Outlook: Based on Yoshida’ 54.6 GB rate we probably should expect his home run output to remain in the mid to upper teen range. His second half stats regressed as, by his own admission, opposing pitchers “began to locate pitches” against him. He has a good underlying hit tool and he should make his own adjustments to help lift his batting average. His power and speed stats will probably be in the same range as his 2023 numbers but we’ll likely see an uptick in his OBP and batting average.
