2026 Fantasy Baseball Player Profile

Basallo forced his way to the majors in August 2025 after demolishing Triple-A pitching at age 20. While his 31-game cup of coffee in the big leagues was rocky (.165 average), the organization showed their immense faith in his future by signing him to a historic 8-year, $67 million extension shortly after his call-up. He displayed legitimate 70-grade raw power, including a 450-foot homer in his second week, but struggled with swing-and-miss against MLB breaking stuff. 

2026 Outlook: A massive breakout candidate. With the DH spot likely open for rotation and Rutschman needing rest days, Basallo projects to get 400+ at-bats. If he adjusts to big-league pitching, he has 30-homer potential immediately. He qualifies at Catcher in most fantasy leagues but will likely play plenty of 1B/DH, keeping his legs fresh.
