2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: In 11 games with the Yankees last season, Vasquez posted a 2.87 ERA, including a 2.42 ERA as a starter specifically. Throughout his time in the minors, he was routinely posting a double-digit swinging strike rate, but with the Yankees, that mark sat at just a 6.9 percent mark. We have a longer track record of him missing bats than not, so I'd expect that mark to increase in 2024 in the pitcher-friendly confines of his new digs.

2024 Outlook: Vasquez's pitch mix runs six deep, with his sweeper and curveball being the most likely to miss bats. He's a ground ball machine in a pitcher's park, and there's room for growth in the strikeout department. He's an enticing late round flier in NL-only formats, but he's yet to log more than 115.1 IP in a season, so I wouldn't be surprised to see San Diego cap Vasquez at 135-145 innings this season.
