2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Davis posted 17 extra-base hits (7 HR) in 225 ABs last season, while posting a respectable seven percent barrel rate and 41.4 percent hard hit rate. Davis will need to cut back on the strikeouts and improve against non-fastballs, but all of the tools are there for Davis to be an intriguing fantasy option behind the dish (once he gains that eligibility). 

2024 Outlook: The sooner Davis gets catcher eligibility, the bigger fantasy value he becomes. The team did bring in Yasmani Grandal as another catcher on the big league roster, so perhaps we have to wait a couple of extra weeks for Davis to gain eligibility behind the dish. In a full time role, Davis could hit .230 with 15 HR and 10 SB, the latter of which is very enticing behind the dish. Ten stolen bases aren't crazy to fathom for Davis, especially when you see last year's 72nd percentile sprint speed! It seems like it's only a matter of time until he gets the catcher eligibility, and there's a lot to like with his offensive profile from behind the dish, especially if he can hit closer to .250 than .220.
