2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Colt Keith recently signed a pre-debut extension, so all indications are that the Tigers brass plan for the rookie to be the opening day starter at second base. MLB Pipeline's No. 22 overall prospect and the Tigers No. 2 shifted from third base to second base last season in part to take a load off his arm as he missed nearly four months with a shoulder injury in 2022. There's nothing left to prove for one of the most exciting players in the organization after he racked up 68 extra-base hits alongside a .380 OBP and .320/.436/.422 slash line at AAA Toldeo last season.

2024 Outlook: Keith will be an upgrade from Andy Ibanez at second as the kid has done nothing but rake, slashing .300/.382/.512 across 1,063 minor-league plate appearances. He may start the season at the bottom of the order but expect Colt Keith to be near the top as summer rolls in.
