2022 Player Outlook
In his first full season at the big-league level, Smith hit .267 and scored 68 runs. He was able to draw solid contact, but the power was rarely on display with just 11 home runs. But dating back to his time in college at Virginia, he’s never hit for great power, but he’s always been a very disciplined hitter with a .326 career batting average. Steamer projects him to basically match his production from a year ago, but if he can improve the batting average, we shouldn’t rule out the possibility that he could move up in the batting order and possibly be in position to record more runs.
