2023 Player Outlook

Hunter Greene lived up to expectations in 2022, as his electrifying fastball lit up radar guns and his slider posted a 38 percent whiff rate. He did go to the injured list for a shoulder issue at one point and the fluctuation in his fastball’s velocity may be worrisome if watching it closely. He had some rougher summer months, but he ended the year on a high note, posting a 1.02 ERA, 12.99 K/9, and 2.04 BB/9 over his final six starts. He loves to use his fastball up in the zone, so yes, he may allow a few more home runs than one would like, but his fastball-slider combo is one of the best in the bigs, and health willing, his 2023 will be electrifying. The team may not want to push him much past 155-165 innings, but even with that workload, he could flirt with 200 strikeouts this season, while posting an ERA much closer to 4.00 than last year’s 4.44 mark.
