2022 Player Outlook
Tsutsugo's .217 average on the year was lowered by a slower start, but in 43 games with Pittsburgh, he hit .268 and donned an .883 OPS. Since the day he signed with Pittsburgh, he posted the 36th-best OPS in baseball, logging time at three different positions for the Pirates. Despite a lackluster offense, Tsutsugo's 25 RBI in 43 games isn't bad, all things considered, especially when you figure out that pace would result in 94 RBI over a 162 game trajectory. Tsutsugo is a better player in reality than fantasy, as he does a few things well, but doesn't stand out in any one particular category. He offers the Pirates some lineup versatility, as he can handle first base duties or either corner outfield spot, and a .268 batting average over 43 games is nothing to scoff at. As a "jack of all trades master of none type," Tsutsugo is a low-risk late round flier that could provide some decent fantasy numbers in spurts.
