2022 Player Outlook

It was an impressive 11.2 innings in 2021 for Sanmartin, as he won both of his starts and struck out 11 batters in 11.2 innings of work. His arsenal was heavy on ground balls (47.1 GB%), while his four-seamer and changeup posted whiff rates north of 33 percent. Cincinnati would be wise to give him every opportunity to win and maintain the fifth starter gig. It was a nice showing in 2021 for Sanmartin as mentioned, and while Cincinnati should give him every right to win the fifth starter spot, but his overall workload could be capped. In fact, back in 2019, he fired a career-high 122.1 innings, before not pitching in 2020, and then logging 112 innings in 2021. Cincinnati will likely cap the 25-year-old around 130-140 innings.
