2024 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Despite blowing eight save chances last year, Doval was excellent for fantasy purposes. He posted a 2.93 ERA (2.77 FIP) and 39 saves to go along with a 31 percent strikeout rate and miniscule 0.40 HR/9! He had a rough go of things down the stretch, posting a 5.68 ERA over his final 12.2 IP, but prior to that, he had just two outings where he allowed more than one earned run. On top of an excellent strikeout rate, he posted a 52.2 percent ground ball rate, thanks to a sinking fastball that registered a -2-degree launch angle last year!

2024 Outlook: Doval's slider is his best pitch and headlines his three-pitch arsenal. I don't expect the Giants to be blowing teams out a ton this season, meaning Doval should see plenty of save chances once again, and when the Giants do have the lead, they have strong options in Tyler Rogers and Taylor Rogers to hold the lead for Doval. Doval is one of the best closing options in the game, and with another season of 30+ saves and a 30+ percent strikeout rate, he should be considered as a top-five closer this year, especially if his ERA creeps closer to 2.50.
