Noelvi Marte’s 2025 season was a narrative-shifting campaign that saw him trade the "PED suspension" cloud of 2024 for the bright future of a multi-positional power threat. After starting the year in Triple-A, Marte was promoted in May and immediately flashed his elite tools, ultimately slashing .263/.300/.448 with 14 home runs and 10 stolen bases in just 90 games. His season was interrupted by a two-month stint on the IL due to a Grade 2 left oblique strain, but he returned to finish strong, notably hitting an inside-the-park home run and robbing a game-tying homer in the final week of September to help secure the Reds' first playoff berth in years.
The most significant development of late 2025 was Marte’s defensive relocation. Following the acquisition of Ke’Bryan Hayes to anchor third base, the Reds moved Marte to Right Field, where his 93rd-percentile arm strength and 89th-percentile sprint speed translated into surprisingly competent defense (-1 OAA). Entering 2026, manager Terry Francona has expanded this experiment; while Marte is slated as the primary right fielder, he has been taking extensive reps in Center Field this spring to provide a high-upside alternative to TJ Friedl. He remains pre-arbitration eligible and is a central figure in the Reds' "playoff-caliber" core.
For fantasy managers, Marte is a premier power-speed sleeper with an ADP around 150.
