2022 Player Outlook
Webb’s 2021 campaign was bookended by poor play. Between his first seven starts and his last six starts he allowed 37 of his 50 earned runs on the season. In 14 starts from May 11th to September 2nd he was a completely different player. He had a 1.46 ERA with 88 strikeouts in 80.1 innings. But you still have to account for how he started and finished the season which inflate his overall numbers to a 3.03 ERA in 148.1 innings of work. Still, that’s a solid season and he consistently kept the ball in the ballpark with his 0.55 HR/9. Webb’s current ADP has him being drafted just inside the top 60 as the 20th pitcher off the board. Webb is a fairly polarizing player heading into 2022 because some projections are quite bullish on his outlook while some are expecting regression. Either way, Webb does shape up to be a reliable SP2 in the upcoming season and he still could flex a decent floor.
