2022 Player Outlook
Kaprielian went 8-5 with a 4.07 ERA (4.48 xERA), 1.22 WHIP and a 24.5 percent strikeout rate. He posted four pitches with a whiff rate north of 20 percent, and nearly had all five of his pitches above that threshold. It's worth noting that he missed some time at the end of July and early August with a shoulder injury, and after he returned from that injury, he posted a 5.36 ERA, which was a far cry from his 2.90 ERA before the All-Star break. The Oakland starter might see his ERA push closer to 4.50, but he was very good for a good chunk of the 2021 season. He should strikeout around a batter per inning, if not slightly higher, and if he recaptures his early season form, he's going to be a steal at his current draft price.
