2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Fantasy managers who picked up Benson were thrilled with the production they received when he was on the field. Despite a 31.3 percent strikeout rate, Benson rode a .391 BABIP to a .275/.365/.498 slash line, not to mention 11 home runs and 19 stolen bases across 108 games. His quality of contact was impressive, highlighted by a 10.3 percent barrel rate and 41.1 percent hard hit rate, though his strikeouts are a problem. While he did a great job staying in the zone last year, it's hard to imagine that his 12.6 percent swinging strike rate and 70.5 percent contact wouldn't catch up to him at some point. 

2024 Outlook: He's got great size and is very toosly, but his inability to handle lefties at his young age will have him operating in a platoon, but at least he'll be on the larger side. You should still get enough at-bats from him to where he gives your fantasy team some power and speed production, but regression is coming in the batting average department. His strikeout rate ticked up in the second half, and while I do think he can be a guy that continues to outperform his expected numbers, he's not hitting .275 again in 2024.
