2022 Player Outlook
Acquired by Cleveland in the Mike Clevinger deal back in 2020, Quantrill opened the 2021 season in the bullpen where he posted a 2.03 ERA over 17 relief appearances. He pitched to a little too much contact and walked a few too many guys, as evidenced by the 1.31 WHIP, but the team transitioned him into a starting role anyway. The results were actually better than expected as the 26-year-old righty posted a 2.81 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP and 89 strikeouts over 112 innings. He even had a double-digit swinging-strike percentage on both his slider and his change-up, so there seems to be promise on the horizon. However, skeptics will point out his .267 BABIP, his 80-percent strand-rate and an overall lack of strikeouts, something vital to the fantasy game, so while there is some upside to be had, be wary of some decline in the ratios.
