2023 Player Outlook
Along with Triston McKenzie, Cal Quantrill is among the two most promising arms on the team after Bieber. He has the talent to be a Cy Young candidate and will get another year or two before the young pitchers in the organization behind him are ready to take his spot in the rotation. Quantrill is approaching ace-level talent as he rarely walks hitters, does not give up too many home runs, and has the ability to keep his ERA under three. Quantrill may not have the same strikeout rate as McKenzie, but a 15-5 record with a 3.38 ERA in 2022 is solid and if he can drop his ERA to a sub-2.60 we can expect an even better season in 2023.
