2022 Player Outlook

It's difficult to know what to expect from Naylor this season as the 24-year-old former first-rounder suffered a gruesome injury to his lower leg that required surgery to repair multiple fibula fractures and ligament tears. Original scouting reports noted his raw power which appeared to be developing while at the Double-A level, but was never sustained during any of his major-league appearances. Last season started off in similar fashion and then the injury happened, so Naylor is likely starting off from scratch this season. It is not yet clear that he will even begin spring training on-time, but with the lockout, it's possible he is ready for the start of the season. He could have a role as a corner outfielder or designated hitter should the Guardians look to add some pop to their current lineup.
