2023 Player Outlook
The 2021 and 2022 seasons have not gone well for Brad Keller. The club's Pitcher of the Year award winner in 2018 and 2020, has just seemed to fall apart. He was 8-12 with a 5.39 ERA/1.66 WHIP in 2021- allowing the worst ERA of his entire career. While some expected a bounce-back performance last year it didn’t pan out and by August he was relegated to the bullpen. He came out of the pen 13 times down the stretch and gave up 13 runs and walked 10 in 17.1 innings. Keller finished the season with a 6-14 overall record and a 5.09 ERA/1.50 WHIP, numbers that certainly do not make Royals management optimistic for the upcoming 2023 season.
