2022 Player Outlook
Yarbrough lost just under a mph off his fastball, marking his fourth straight season of velocity loss. There were other troubling trends for Yarbrough last season including a significant increase in his HR/9 rate (1.45 from .81 in the 2020 season) and a second straight season in which his overall BAA increased (.264, up from .251 in the 2020 season). If Yarbrough’s stats continue to trend in the wrong direction, he might find himself working out of the bullpen and primarily facing left-handed batters. Lefty hitters are batting just .226 against Yarbrough for his career.
