2023 Player Outlook
American Family Field can be quite friendly for left-handed sluggers, and Tellez will agree with that. In 2022, 22 of Tellez’s 35 home runs were hit at home, and he posted a .306 ISO in his home park. The batting average might not have been what fantasy managers wanted, but his .215 BABIP and .252 xBA are signs of optimism heading into his age-28 season. Tellez makes a ton of hard contact, and 2022 was the first season where he hit more fly balls than ground balls, so his power production shouldn’t come as much of a surprise when you consider he made more hard contact and lofted the ball more than before. The left-handed slugger will be the everyday first baseman for the Brewers in 2023, and the arrow is pointing up for him in 2023. He should experience a nice bump in his batting average as the progresses to the mean, and as mentioned, the power is legitimate. If all goes right, he could push for 40+ home runs this season, but I believe his fantasy floor is something along the lines of a .240 average and 30 home runs.
