2022 Player Outlook
The Jays traded for the former first round pick at the trade deadline and he pitched extremely well for his new team. Overall, his 4-seam fastball was a little more hittable than he would have liked (.273 BAA), but opposing hitters batted a combined .207 against his sinker change and curve. Berrios posted a 10.0 K/9 and 1.7 BB/9 for the Jays last season. Berrios has the skills to be the ace of the Blue Jays staff but with the other starting pitchers around him and the run support he’ll receive, he doesn’t have to be. He has a lifetime 2.44 ERA and 0.831 WHIP in 55.1 IP at Rogers Centre.
