2024 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Musgrove's 2023 season was bookended with injuries, as he had a late start due to a toe injury, and an early exit due to shoulder inflammation. However, when Musgrove was on the mound, he was very good, posting a 10-3 record with a 3.05 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. He dropped his walk rate for the third straight season, and last year's 5.3 percent walk rate was his lowest since 2018 (4.7%). He's trusting his changeup and cutter more, and the former posted a .214 xBA and 40.6 percent whiff rate. He continued to attack the zone, but his contact metrics were slightly up, including his highest zone contact rate in recent memory.

2024 Outlook: His slowly declining strikeout rate is something of note, but he continues to limit hard contact, and a dazzling walk rate keeps his WHIP in a healthy spot for fantasy managers. For 2024, Musgrove may not have the same offensive firepower backing him with the loss of Juan Soto in the offseason, but there's still enough juice in the offense, and Musgrove is a quality producer across the board. He's not the flashiest pick at this point in his career, but he can be trusted as an SP3 this year, with top 25 upside.
