2022 Player Outlook

Rogers missed some time in 2021 and had some added competition for saves, which largely caused him to only record nine saves last season. His strikeout rebounded after a down 2020 season, and he continues to use his slider more and more. Last year, his slider posted a 38.8 percent whiff rate and a .186 xBA. A couple of departures from the Minnesota pen is good for Rogers, meaning he has less competition for saves. His role in Minnesota was pretty secure, but there will be some questions on his role with his new squad. There's a lot of potential closing options in San Diego, so while Rogers may share some work early on, if he performs like he's capable of, he should emerge as the primary ninth inning option for San Diego.
