2022 Player Outlook

Going about 50-60 picks after Snell is teammate, Mike Clevinger. Clevinger may be the great unknown heading into the 2022 season. He was traded to the Padres in 2020 but underwent Tommy John surgery and missed all of last season. We know he has the stuff to be an ace in most rotations. In 2018 he pitched 200 innings and had over 200 strikeouts with a 3.02 ERA. If he’s healthy and has no setbacks, it’s unlikely he gets to 200 innings again. The Padres have shown hesitancy in letting their pitchers go that deep into a game. But for someone who is being drafted outside the top 50 pitchers, he is a pitcher you might be willing to gamble on if you aren’t prioritizing pitchers early on in your draft.
