2022 Player Outlook
Sano is as true of a two outcome player as there is in baseball. Last year, he homered 30 times in 470 at-bats, and struck out 183 times (34.4 K%). When Sano does make contact, it's impressive, and he's remained consistent there, posting an average exit velocity and barrel rate in the 95th percentile or better in his last five qualifying seasons. However, his strikeout rate has remained among the worst. The good thing about Sano is that, health willing, you know exactly what you're getting. You're chasing big time power numbers, while willingly taking on a 30+ percent strikeout rate and a .220 batting average. There's some injury risk with Sano, as he's spent time on the injured list in each of the past three seasons.
