2022 Player Outlook

Bassitt put up another impressive season for Oakland, posting a 12-4 record with a 3.15 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a career best 25 percent strikeout rate. Over the last three years, not only is the right-hander 27-11 on the bump, but he's also posted a 3.26 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Bassitt might not be the first pitcher from his team drafted, but he should be excellent for the Mets following his trade. He seems to be perennially undervalued, even dating back to his time in Oakland, but it wouldn't be crazy to think that the Mets just might have more offensive firepower than Oakland. Regardless, the 32-year-old righty should be just fine from a statistical perspective and be in line for another double-digit win season with an ERA in the low-to-mid 3s, good enough to be a reliable SP3 at least.
