2023 Player Outlook

As per usual, Springer spent some time on the IL last season. This time it was due to an elbow injury. He managed to play 133 games and hit 25 HRs and steal 14 bases, but his .472 SLG was his lowest since the 2018 season. He underwent surgery to have a bone spur removed from that elbow shortly after the 2022 season was completed. Springer’s overall production has always been dependent on his overall health. He's expected to be fully recovered from his offseason surgery by Opening Day. If Springer can stay healthy enough to get at least 550 at-bats he’s likely to hit at least 30 HRs and as the Blue Jays’ lead-off hitter look for him to post another season of double-digit steals.
