2022 Player Outlook
Diaz was solid for Houston in 2021, as hit .259 with a .721 OPS, eight home runs, 45 RBI and 28 runs scored in 84 games for the team. He posted a .789 OPS against southpaws last season, and he also posted a career-high 44.8 percent hard hit rate. Regular playing time might be hard to come by with the Astros in 2022, but you never know what can happen with injuries. Diaz's 19.4 percent strikeout rate was a bit elevated compared to years past, sans 2020, but he walk rate rebounded slightly and his 6.5 percent barrel rate was the second-best mark of his career. He might need an injury to open the door for regular playing time, but he's no more than a waiver wire pick up or DFS streaming option against southpaws.
