2022 Player Outlook
Grichuk filled in nicely for Springer while he was on the IL, playing 96 games in CF. His 17.0 LD% was his lowest since 2016 and coincided with a .032-point drop in his batting average from the 2020 season. He did see a very small drop in his K rate last season, and he continued to produce an above average contact %. Grichuk’s .233 xBA and .167 BAA breaking pitches from last season suggests that we shouldn’t expect to see much bounce back in his BA moving forward. While he goes to a less talented lineup, he now gets the benefit of playing half of his games at Coors Field. When the at-bats are there, Grichuk is a lock for 20+ home runs, and at least at face value, at-bats should be there for him in Colorado, whether it be in the outfield or at DH.
