2023 Player Outlook
With three-time All-star closer Liam Hendriks announcing that he will begin treatment for non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Kendall Graveman and Reynaldo Lopez are the likeliest internal candidates to step in as the temporary closer. Graveman will enter his ninth MLB season and has saved 16 games in his career. Last year he appeared in 65 games with the White Sox, pitching 65 innings and saving six games. Most importantly he struck out an average of 9.1 hitters per nine innings which is exactly what the White Sox need.
