2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Kinley had a late start to the 2023 season because of his right elbow, and even after his return, went back on the IL with right elbow inflammation. Across his 16.1 IP last season, he notched five saves with a 6.06 ERA (4.85 FIP), 1.65 HR/9, and 22.4 percent strikeout rate. His fastball has good velocity, residing in the mid-nineties, and he upped the usage on his slider, resulting in a .200 BAA (.197xBA) and 33 percent whiff rate.

2024 Outlook: He allows a lot of fly balls, which is obviously concerning in Coors Field, but he generated impressive swinging strike numbers in years past, so health willing, we could see him get back to a mid-twenties strikeout rate in 2024. Justin Lawrence will be the team's closer, but Kinley could quickly emerge as the clear next man up, especially if the volatile Daniel Bard runs into issues.
