2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Shane Bieber won the American League Cy Young in 2020 but has seen his value on the market slide every year since. His velocity has been in a decline for three straight years, and he's had two seasons shortened due to arm and elbow injuries. Last year, he posted a 6-6 record with a 3.80 ERA/1.23 WHIP and 107 strikeouts in 128 innings.

2024 Outlook: According to Driveline Baseball, Shane Bieber is throwing his fastball almost as hard as he did four years ago when he won the AL Cy Young and his curveball also appears to be rejuvenated as Driveline calculated the vertical break from his winter sessions to be 14 inches. The former Cy Young winner hasn't been horrible the last few years, but Bieber certainly hasn't been the same pitcher he was earlier in his career. Hopefully Bieber is finding the magic again what made him one of the top pitchers in baseball.
