2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Power in spades. That’s what we’ve become used to seeing with Alonso. What we haven’t been used to from the Polar Bear though is the low batting average like he had in 2023. It’s tough to sort out exactly what caused the average to plummet from .271 to .217 given his metrics all still match, in some cases identically, to 2022 numbers. His xBA, for what it’s worth, was .244.

2024 Outlook: Alonso will be back with the counting stats in 2024, that much we know. The power and run production have remained constant no matter what his slash line has been. As for that pesky slash line, it should be back to the 2021 levels of .262/.344/.519 or there about.
