Michael Fulmer allowed four runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings in Thursday's no-decision against the Royals.

Things literally couldn't have started worse for the right-hander in this one, as the Royals had their way at the plate and on the basepaths against him in the first inning. Both Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi singled and promptly stole second base, and with both runners on Fulmer served up a three-run jack to Salvador Perez. Things got better from there, but not much better, and after three singles and a sacrifice fly in the third inning the 27-year-old's night was over. He's not far removed from being the AL Rookie of the Year in 2016, but that Michael Fulmer and the one who posted an 8.78 ERA in 10 starts this year aren't the same guy. Of course, this was a weird year and his first time pitching since Tommy John surgery early in 2019, so he gets something of a pass. Still, we'll need to see some shades of that old pitcher before we can buy back in for 2021. Sep 24 11:40 pm (EST)
