2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Gallegos has been a steady presence in the St. Louis bullpen the last couple of seasons, recording 10 or more saves in each of the last three seasons. His ERA jumped to 4.42 last season, which was the second-highest mark of his career, and his strikeout rate also dipped to 25.8 percent, his lowest since 2017. His arsenal lends itself to a lot of fly balls, and last year's 15.3 percent HR/FB rate was well above his career average, and when paired with a 46.2 percent hard hit rate, he was bound to run into some trouble. The dip in his strikeout rate was very odd, given that he posted a healthy 17.5 percent swinging strike rate, not to mention a 98th percentile chase rate.

2024 Outlook: His strikeout rate should rebound in 2024, and his ERA will be closer to 3.00 than 4.00 this year. He'll open the year as the team's setup man, but he's one of the better setup men in fantasy baseball to target in SV+H leagues.
