2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Tatis Jr. has all the talent and tools to break fantasy baseball. A .299 BABIP brought his batting average down to .257 last season, but he continued to make a lot of hard contact, and his .282 xBA is right on par with recent seasons. His expected statistics are monstrous, and his swinging strike and contact rates trended in the right direction last year. There are still improvements to be made there, as he posted a 26th percentile chase rate and 20th percentile whiff rate, but to be fair, he did miss all of 2022. There is going to be some streakiness to his game, especially with his propensity to leave the strike zone, but his .225 batting average over his final 71 games was a drastic dropoff from his .288 average through the first 70 games. His strikeout rate jumped, and the superstar just needs to stay in the zone and not help out opposing pitchers.

2024 Outlook: Tatis Jr. is a top-10 fantasy baseball selection and he has the talent and tools to push for a 40/40 season at the height of his career. He'll need to stay healthy to do so, but everything is there, as guys with 94th percentile sprint speeds and 90th percentile hard hit rates don't grow on trees. Tatis Jr. is going to be a member of the 30/30 club this year, book it. Once the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr., Bobby Witt Jr., Julio Rodriguez, and Corbin Carroll are off the board, Tatis Jr. is in play.
