Brett Phillips played the role of unlikely hero in Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday, delivering a walk-off RBI single off of Kenley Jansen as the Rays rallied to beat the Dodgers 8-7.

The Rays entered the ninth inning trailing 7-6. Kevin Kiermaier got things started with a one-out bloop single, then Randy Arozarena worked Jansen for a seven-pitch walk, setting the stage for the 26-year-old outfielder who had entered the game as a pinch-runner for Ji-Man Choi in the eighth inning. After falling behind in the count 1-2, Phillips lined an RBI single into right field that scored Kiermaier from second. It also wound up scoring Arozarena -- who had been hustling the whole way -- after Chris Taylor bobbled the ball in center field, then Will Smith was unable to corral the relay throw, even after Arozarena had stumbled and fell halfway between third base and home plate. Now, rather than facing a daunting 3-1 deficit in the series, things are squared away at 2-2 heading to Game 5 on Sunday.  Oct 25 12:07 am (EST)
