2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: There were questions for Houser’s 2023 year as he went into his age-30 season approaching free agency. Overall it was a solid showing for a backend starter with 23 appearances, 21 starts, and a 4.12 ERA while limiting homers (1.02 HR/9) and posting a decent 20.0-percent K-rate. They weren’t elite numbers by any means, but they only ever needed him to be a number five starter.

2024 Outlook: The Mets signed him to be the depth backend arm he was in Milwaukee. That’s all we’re expecting from him to be honest. There is value here in fantasy for an SP6 option who you just need to not kill your numbers. The problem that Houser and fantasy managers will have is that he has to pitch against the Braves’ and Phillies’ stacked lineups.
