The biggest storyline for Saturday’s World Cup DFS slate is how Argentina and Saudi Arabia will respond to one of the biggest upsets in recent World Cup history. Argentina needs a win and I think there is a decent chance they come out and get the big win against Mexico we thought they were getting against Saudi Arabia.

For their part, Saudi Arabia managed two goals from 0.1 xG thanks to two outstanding (and probably lucky) strikes. I am skeptical of their ability to do that again, though they will probably generate more of an attack against Poland than they did against Argentina.

France’s injury concerns did not hurt them against Australia and unless Denmark plays better than they did against Tunisia, they shouldn’t matter this week, either. That being said, Denmark is solid in the midfield and it only takes one chance for Christian Eriksen to ruin France’s day.

Emiliano MartinezARGMEX5700-3.7211-5.00
I really thought he would be more expensive on FanDuel. Argentina is obviously coming off a disastrous result but I don't see why they wouldn't beat Mexico and keep a clean sheet. Saudi Arabia scored two goals from 0.1 xG and I think that was mostly due to two perfectly-placed shots. Mexico couldn't score against Poland on 0.7 xG. I think Martinez will be just fine.
Wojciech SzczesnyPOLSAU550013.421322.00
As I stated above, Saudi Arabia didn't really generate much of an attack against Argentina. Poland should take care of business here, even if I don't entirely trust their defenders.
Guillermo OchoaMEXARG380012.58616.00
I don't really expect another clean sheet or a penalty save but Ochoa led the World Cup in saves in 2018 and he had two more against Poland Tuesday. Mexico is good defensively so Ochoa could easily rack up some more saves while keeping the score low.

Lautaro MartinezARGMEX76005.22181.30
Martinez had two goals disallowed against Saudi Arabia due to offsides. I have to imagine Argentina will be more dilligent about staying onside in a must-win game against Mexico. Martinez may be risky but I like his chances of an attacking return.
Robert LewandowskiPOLSAU910010.442012.30
He still hasn't scored at the World Cup, but I think that will change if Saudi Arabia tries to play a high back line again. If you want to play someone from Poland in this good matchup, Lewandowski is by far your best bet.
Ousmane DembeleFRADEN800016.541717.30
He had three crosses and three chances created against Australia along with one assist. He is a safe alternative on both sites if you cannot afford to pay up for his teammates.
Antoine GriezmannFRADEN940017.881830.80
Griezmann finished with six crosses and six chances created but zero attacking returns. I would pay up for him over Dembele if I could, but I might just put both in my lineup.
Lionel MessiARGMEX1180025.642239.00
I think he is going to have a huge game in a must-win against Mexico. For all of Argentina's struggles, Messi was just fine for fantasy despite the disallowed goal. He is my top target on both sites, though I don't know how I am going to afford him.
Midfielders
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Piotr ZielinskiPOLSAU70007.78169.90
There are very few players from Poland we can trust, and Zielinski is one of them. With seven crosses and two chances created against Mexico, Zielinski has a chance to be even better Saturday.
Pierre-Emile HojbjergDENFRA53005.341311.50
He had 11.5 FD fantasy points despite doing very little offensively. I think he is safe on FanDuel and I think there is a chance he is more involved in the attack against France.
Luis ChavezMEXARG500012.4497.30
Chavez had eight crosses Tuesday, including four corners. He should be save even in a tough matchup.
Christian EriksenDENFRA720019.361520.00
I still think Denmark could win this game and I think Eriksen is too cheap considering he is the safest player on the DK slate.
Defenders

Matty CashPOLSAU47005.781110.20
Cash had a modest fantasy day against Poland but he should find more success against Saudi Arabia. His price is pretty low considering we know what he is capable of offensively.
Marcos AcunaARGMEX51007.4498.60
He had six crosses and two chances created in just 19 minutes against Saudi Arabia. I think there is a good chance he has earned himself a start against Mexico.
Cesar MontesMEXARG27004.141011.50
Montes has a solid four clearances against Poland, but I think he could be even better against Argentina's attack. He is a strong cash game play.
Joakim MaehleDENFRA50007.61214.50
It looks like I am playing a couple of mid-priced defenders on DraftKings. Maehle is riskier than the guys ahead of him on this list but he has nine goals in 32 games for Denmark, meaning he probably has more upside.
Joachim AndersenDENFRA30008.181316.50
Andersen is one of the best center-backs in the Premier League and he was just as good against Tunisia Tuesday. This is a much better matchup for defensive stats and if Andersen just matches his three tackles and two clearances, he will return value.
