Welcome to Tuesday’s 13-game NHL Slate. We’ve been gifted with over seven hours of commercial-free hockey. Every team is in action and each game has a staggered start time of 15 minutes. As a hockey fan, this is greatness. There are so many great options to choose from, so get ready to have to make some tough choices. You can build daily fantasy hockey lineups on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy for Tuesday, October 24th, but before you build those NHL daily fantasy lineups, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS projections, the NHL Value Finder, and the NHL DFS lineup generator. Let's now take a closer look at the daily fantasy hockey top plays for tonight's NHL DFS Showdown slate.

NHL DFS Playbook October 24th

DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

With so many players to choose from, you’re going to want to get a piece of a few hockey games in cash game lineups. There is no shortage of superstars to choose from, but it’s about finding value on such a large slate. There are some players that are going to be left out of the Playbook because they just don’t provide value. Does that mean you can’t play them? Of course not, but on a slate like this one, we need to find value.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Ilya Sorokin vs Colorado Avalanche

Filip Gustavsson vs Edmonton Oilers

Connor Ingram vs Los Angeles Kings

Thatcher Demko vs Nashville Predators

Best Odds for a Win

Anthony Stolarz vs San Jose Sharks

Linus Ullmark vs Chicago Blackhawks

Vitek Vanecek vs Montreal Canadiens

Alexandar Georgiev vs New York Islanders

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Anthony Stolarz, G, Florida Panthers

It feels like a trap to pay $8200 for Anthony Stolarz on DraftKings, there is some value in his current price tag on FanDuel. He has a great matchup on paper, but it’s a question of can hit value at his current price tag and the answer is no on DraftKings. If you’re chasing the win, Florida has the best odds of doing so.

Connor Hellebuyck, G, Winnipeg Jets

FanDuel is giving us a gift by having Connor Hellebuyck at $7000. St. Louis is taking only 24 shots per game and they haven’t scored a power play goal this season. I know he hasn’t been great, but this is a great spot for him. His DK price isn’t great, but we can probably get him at under 5% owned, which is critical on this slate.

Thatcher Demko, G, Vancouver Canucks

Thatcher Demko hasn’t been bad this season, but his team is just giving him no support. He is facing a ton of rubber and that trend will continue tonight. Nashville is averaging the third most shots per game this season, but they aren’t scoring at a crazy pace. This is a volume play, so expect some risk.

Ville Husso, G, Detroit Red Wings

Seattle is averaging just 1.83 goals per game this season, so playing Ville Husso tonight just seems like a great idea. Detroit is off to a fantastic start and I don’t see them slowing down tonight. It might be hard for Husso to hit value due to the low shot volume, but he could flirt with picking up a shutout, which would provide us with more than enough value.

Alexandar Georgiev, G, Colorado Avalanche

Alexandar Georgiev came back down to earth last game, but he is in a great spot tonight. The Islanders are just a boring offensive team to watch and I can’t imagine them doing anything decent tonight. Colorado is a superior hockey team that can really dominate possession and the pace of play. They should have no problem skating around the Islanders all night. Georgiev just needs to be decent to pick up the win.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Vegas Golden Knights vs Carter Hart (4.0)

Florida Panthers vs Mackenzie Blackwood (4.1)

New Jersey Devils vs Sam Montembeault (3.9)

Los Angeles Kings vs Connor Ingram (3.9)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Jack Hughes, C, New Jersey Devils

If you’re going to spend up for an elite player, make it Jack Hughes. Montreal is playing their second game in as many nights and Hughes is just on another planet. He’s going to see a ton of chances to shoot the puck and I expect a few to find the back of the net.

Dylan Larkin, C, Detroit Red Wings

Dylan Larkin’s shot volume may not be up there, but he has eight points in the last three games and is playing on the hottest power play unit in the league. His $7300 price tag is also very reasonable.

Alex DeBrincat, W, Detroit Red Wings

Sticking with the Red Wings, Alex DeBrincat leads the NHL in goals and is going up against a bad Seattle team. He’s going to be popular tonight, but I think his price tag is still too low considering his production. You can pair him with Larkin for a nice mini-stack and power play correlation.

Evan Rodrigues, W, Florida Panthers

Everyone will be looking at Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Reinhart, but our attention will be turned to Evan Rodrigues. He has seven points in five games and is averaging over 4 shots on goal in that span. He’s also seeing time on the top line, so there is just a lot to love here for a player that is $5100.

Alex Laferriere, W, Los Angeles Kings

I don’t know if I'm buying the Los Angeles Kings and their 3.9 team total, but I do like the value on Alex Laferriere. He’s skating on the second line with Kevin Fiala and Pierre Luc Dubois and is a cool $3000. He scored a goal last game and has 10 shots in the last three games. At that price, it doesn’t take much for him to hit value.

Noah Dobson, D, New York Islanders

Noah Dobson has offensive upside to his game, but he’s been blocking a ton of shots to start the season. He has 14 in just four games this season and is only $5300 on DK. He might have a hard time finding the score sheet, but his blocked shots will help us flirt with value.

Mikhail Sergachev, D, Tampa Bay Lightning

It’s the exact same story for Mikhail Sergachev. He has upside to his offensive game, but his blocked shots are what really sets him apart. He has finished with three or more in three of the last four games and is poised to have another strong outing tonight.

Dougie Hamilton, D, New Jersey Devils

If you want to absolutely pay up for a defenceman, Dougie Hamilton is the way to go. As mentioned earlier, the Canadiens are on a back-to-back and they're giving up a ton of shots per game. Montreal is undisciplined and the Devils power play can do some damage when given the opportunity. Dougie had seven shots on goal last game and could have as many tonight.
